The AVRO story started with a kiteboarder from the Great Lakes, which are known for their cold waters and ever changing wind conditions. The Great Lakes winds can be blowing hard one moment to barely a breeze the next. Our founder/CEO has travelled from lake to lake in search of the perfect kiting conditions and would often switch between kite sizes. He tinkered with electric pumps to make the burden of pumping quicker and easier. After testing numerous electric pumps on the market which did not conform to kiteboarding; he consulted a design team to make the ultimate kite pump, the AVRO pump.
